As a token of our appreciation, we are giving away 5 ASTRO-themed deskmats. We have now launched the ASTRO-Collection, tailored and themed based on your feedback. Sorry for the barrage of questions again I'm quite curious on how this works haha. My First PC Build (7800x3d & 4090FE) GIVEAWAY Hello r/pcmasterrace A year ago, we reached out asking for your ideas for a space-themed setup. GTA5, Black Desert Online, L4D2, Stardew valley. I'm having this issue in all games as well. I know this because I have an FPS counter and I keep my game windowed. But if I pause the game first, so there's nothing moving on the screen, there's no overheating. As the title says, I get 1 4 FPS while I'm actually in the game, but as soon as I alt tab out, it shoots right back up to 60+. Even in old games like Final Fantasy XII. Happens with every game that has something animating on the screen from what I can tell, as long as it's somewhat GPU hungry. If you have an iGPU would borderless full screen not matter/not affect performance whatsoever but maybe add a bit more heat since the iGPU is rendering the desktop?ĭo you know how windowed mode compares to fullscreen borderless? Do they work exactly the same way/have the same impact on performance and borderless just looks better? Goes to about 75-80c when a game is in the background, and 55c ish when not. Also, while watching youtube videos (or any other video content without it being fullscreen) without them being in fullscreen, black box flickers would appear once every 5-10 seconds. While playing Call of Duty Warzone, while viewing items in the shop, my screen would flicker. I notice when I tab out of my game to the desktop my fans run slightly louder, so I'm assuming even though it's no longer rendering the game it's still using resources and heats up because I'm browsing and now the iGPU is rendering the desktop. Everytime I would alt+tab my screen would go black for 5-7 seconds. ![]() When the game is tabbed out on full screen the GPU simply stops rendering the game, but CPU/RAM utilization remains the same? ![]() Click to expand.Thank you for answering all those questions! So it doesn't necessarily take up more CPU/RAM resources, but it will take slightly more GPU resources because it needs to render the desktop on borderless?
